Successful Mobile App Launch Checklist

Author
Jason Lloyd

Launching a mobile app can be daunting to say the least. Where should you even begin?

Well, fear not. Here’s the only checklist you’ll ever need.

1. Create some beautiful marketing materials

So we’ve just built you a beautiful mobile app for your Shopify store. Now you want to start promoting it. Here’s a question? Why would you just tell people about the app when you can show them instead? After all, an image speaks a thousand words.

Take some screenshots, pop them into a free mockup generator such as https://app-mockup.com/ and then use these awesome new app shots in all of your promotional materials. By the way, canva.com is a really great resource for creating promo materials yourself, using their drag and drop builder. No need to pay designers!

2. Get a smart banner

Use a smart announcement banner on your website to easily direct users dynamically to the App Store or Google Play store listing, depending on which device they are viewing your site on.

3. Create an email marketing campaign

This is a given really. But seriously, every single person who has given you permission to email them should be notified. This is MASSIVE NEWS…so spread the word!

4. Add a banner to your email signature

Again, these sorts of banners can be created easily using canva.com. The idea is that you want to rig it so you can win it by stacking as many of the cards in your favour as you can. Once you’ve created the banner, it will continue to work for you, every single time you send anyone an email.

5. Offer app-exclusives

Create a discount code that can only be used by app-users. One of our team will actually help you set this up and will guide you through how to do it yourself prior to launching. Just ask!

6. Word of mouth

Shout it from the rooftops. No but seriously. Every single person you speak to, mention it. You’re paying for a coffee in Starbucks. Tell the person serving you. Tell the person next to you in the queue. Tell the Uber driver. Tell everyone.

7. Create a QR Code

Create a dynamic QR code that you can easily share with people. They scan it and it sends them to the relevant store depending on the type of device they have. There are loads of websites offering this, just Google it! If you want to create a desired behaviour with your customers, then you need to make it as easy as you can for them to complete the action. A QR code is super easy. They just scan it on their phone and viola, they are able to just tap ‘install’. Job done.
